Community Engagement
overview
Montana Ballet Company’s Education and Community Engagement
Throughout the years, MBC has served the Greater Gallatin Valley and beyond by providing meaningful access to the arts through its Educational and Community Engagement programs. MBC’s Engagement programs support one of MBC’s goals, to provide for all children, families, and seniors the chance to experience the wonder of dance and live performances. We are proud to continue this tradition of giving back to our community.
Discover Dance
Educational Engagement Program
MBC’s Discover Dance program offers live, fully staged performance excerpts of classical ballets to elementary school students throughout the Gallatin Valley and beyond. Prior to each performance, school teachers are provided with a Teacher’s Guide for their classroom, so that students learn about the particular ballet and music, the classical ballet art form and vocabulary, and theater etiquette ahead of time.
Student audiences not only enjoy an excellent and enriching cultural event, they also have the opportunity to meet our Artistic Director, dancers, musicians and stage technicians and join MBC dancers for movement exercises with live music. Students also learn about all of the technical elements such as lighting, special effects and set changes, that come together to create a live arts production.
Following their trip to the theater, students engage in post-performance reflection through artwork and/or writing exercises. This allows students to express how their experience in the theater impacted them.
Share the Dance
Community Engagement Program
It is Montana Ballet Company’s (MBC) desire and goal to make our performances accessible to as many individuals and children in our community as possible. MBC’s Community Engagement program, Share the Dance, gives Gallatin Valley’s arts patrons a unique giving opportunity. Through Share the Dance, generous donors sponsor admission tickets for special groups to attend one of our performances. In this way, audiences who might not be able to attend otherwise can experience a magical performance of classical ballet.
Donations given to the Share the Dance program benefit various non-profit organizations, and donors may also designate an organization of their choice.
Participation in the Share the Dance program is a special way for individuals and corporations to touch someone’s life, and at the same time, express their support and appreciation of the arts in the Gallatin Valley.
