Performing Opportunities
OVERVIEW
Montana Ballet Company (MBC) is a nonprofit, 501c(3) arts organization that includes an Academy which focuses on classical ballet instruction and a tiered performing Company which provides dancers the ability to enrich their knowledge of our art form and improve their artistry and technique through additional training and performing opportunities.
Academy classes are open to all dancers and all levels. Academy students have the opportunity to perform in:
-
- MBC’s Annual Nutcracker in December — open audition in September for all students age 6 (on or before September 10) and above who are available for all scheduled rehearsals and performances.
- The Academy’s Annual Showcase performance in May — open to all students enrolled for the academic year.
- “Dancing Under the Big Sky” Showcase in August – students age 8 and above present special repertory learned during this two-week intensive.
Our two-tiered performing Company includes a Professional tier of accomplished dancers ages 18 and above who are paid to perform. Our Corps de Ballet tier is for serious dancers ages 12 and above who have achieved a certain level of artistry and technical ability and have demonstrated a dedication to the art form. Acceptance into the performing Company is competitive and by audition only.
Company auditions are held annually in early September. Dancers accepted into the Company will have their own unique qualities that lend themselves to the repertoire of Montana Ballet. Company members will have the opportunity to perform in MBC’s productions as well as participate in various engagement programs and events throughout the Season.
