Community Engagement
Montana Ballet Company continually strives to create meaningful access to the arts in our region. We do this through multiple programs, including Discover Dance, Share the Dance, Share the Dance & Dinner, Adaptive Dance, and MBC Moves.
Discover Dance
Montana Ballet Company engages over 2,000 first and second graders from Bozeman and surrounding school districts in a substantial, content-rich dance performance experience, filled with learning and doing. Montana Ballet Company’s Discover Dance program is a comprehensive educational experience encompassing pre-performance classroom-based learning, an interactive theater-based experience, and post-theater reflection to integrate their live arts experience.
Share the Dance
Montana Ballet Company provides complimentary performance tickets to community members who otherwise would not be able to attend. MBC regularly partners with regional nonprofit organizations including Eagle Mount, Big Sky Youth Empowerment, HRDC, Family Outreach, Thrive, the Help Center, Reach, Gallatin County CASA/Guardian ad Litem, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and senior centers to ensure Share the Dance reaches broad and diverse populations.
Share the Dance & Dinner
In partnership with HRDC and the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, MBC staff and dancers pack groceries, deliver food to people who are experiencing food insecurity, and perform for community members at food delivery sites. This ongoing collaboration provides a way for our dancers to meaningfully give back, aligning with our core values of community, integrity, grace, and gratitude.
MBC Moves
MBC Moves strengthens children’s health and wellness through a multidisciplinary program for children, aligning the art form and sport of dance with health and wellness. MBC Moves enriches fine arts as well as health enhancement programming in elementary schools. Montana Ballet Company developed innovative curriculum for interactive learning, integrating a central focus on movement with related disciplines. MBC Moves is built from established partnerships with musicians, visual artists, physical therapists, nutritionists, and mental health experts.
