biography
David Steinmuller is a former biomedical scientist whose research concerned the immune responses to tissue and organ transplants. He grew up in New Haven, Connecticut. He received his B.A. in biology from Swarthmore College in 1956 and his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia in 1961. Over the years, he was a faculty member at the Universities of Washington, Utah, Michigan, and then Iowa before moving to Montana with his wife, Patti in 1992, where he was a part-time professor at Montana State University before retiring in 2004. He has loved art, music, and dance, especially classical ballet for as long as he can remember and has a special interest in the history of ballet. He and Patti love the outdoors, which they enjoy on foot, bicycles, and cross-country skis.
